Club Orchestra (grades 2-5), known affectionately as Club O and Club Kid-O (grades K-1) are part of El Sistema, a visionary world movement transforming the lives of children and their communities through music, a new model for social change. Their missions are to empower children by providing an intensive orchestra training program that teaches the importance of teamwork, promotes self-confidence, and instills the value of social responsibility.

Club Orchestra General Information

  • Open to 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students attending Forest Park, South Wayne, and Waynedale elementary schools in the Fort Wayne Community Schools district 
  • Begins September 12 and continues through the school year
  • Second through Fifth Grade meet weekly Tue, Wed. & Thu. after school until 4:45 p.m.
  • Students are expected to attend daily sessions
  • Violins and music are furnished

Club Kid-O Curriculum Goals

Students will experience a variety of lessons that incorporate the use of pitch, rhythm, body movement, playing Orff mallet instruments like xylophones, glockenspiels, marimbas and metallophones, all that use mallets. In addition, the children will learn to sing and combine skills to perform throughout the year. This program is designed and scientifically proven to aid in brain development that will foster their emotional, social, cognitive and musical development.

After School (K-1 Only)

  • Open to K and 1st grade students attending Forest Park, South Wayne, and Waynedale elementary schools in the Fort Wayne Community Schools district 

  • Begins September 26 and continues through the school year

  • Kindergarten and First Grade meet weekly Tue. & Thu. after school until 4:45 p.m.

  • Snacks and restroom break will be given halfway through each rehearsal

  • Students are expected to attend daily sessions
