The Fort Wayne Philharmonic’s Young People’s Concert program is an important and celebrated pillar of the orchestra’s music education programming. As a partner orchestra within a national Link Up network of orchestras, the Philharmonic connects with educators to bring the exploration of music-making into the classroom.
Link Up is a hands-on music curriculum for students in grades 3-5 that explores orchestral repertoire in the music classroom, while preparing students for a fully interactive, culminating concert experience at the historic Embassy Theatre in which the students actually sing or play recorder along with the orchestra! If you are teaching recorder or singing, this curriculum is a must!
Introduce your students to the orchestra by helping them prepare to become a part of it all!

"The Orchestra Rocks"
One universal element of music is rhythm. Composers and musicians play with elements of musical time, creating patterns of sound and silence that are expressive and exciting. A consistent groove can unite musicians, singers, and audiences in an experience of listening and performing together. Through the Link Up repertoire, hands-on activities, and a culminating interactive performance with a professional orchestra, we will discover how the orchestra rocks.
"The Orchestra Rocks" is in partnership with the Embassy Theatre and Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute (WMI). "The Orchestra Rocks" is a part of WMI's national Link Up program that connects teachers and orchestras across the country.
This program is made possible with the generous multi-year support of the Rifkin Family Foundation, The Journal Gazette Foundation, and Psi Iota Xi, Pi chapter.
