Caleb Young Takes New Title - Guest Conductor for Engagement
For the Fort Wayne Philharmonic’s 2021-2022 Season

Based on his extraordinary ability to connect with audiences and impart the thrill of classical music in an affable and approachable manner, Caleb Young, currently Associate Conductor of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, will take a new title for the 2021-2022 Season, Guest Conductor for Engagement. The new title, created especially for Young, will allow the young conductor to focus his strengths to the benefit of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and Northeast Indiana while expanding his international career.

In his new capacity as Conductor for Engagement, Young will continue to assist in planning and conducting a significant number of the Sweetwater Pops Series concerts, including Disney in Concert: Magical Music of the Movies, Aretha: A Tribute, and Classical Mystery Tour, featuring iconic hits by the Beatles. Young will also lead combined forces from the Philharmonic and Fort Wayne Ballet in the April 2022 production of Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty. In addition, Young will continue to advise in the development of select education and new engagement programs that bring the sounds of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic to hundreds of thousands of people throughout Northeast Indiana every season.

“I’m grateful beyond words to the Philharmonic for providing me the opportunities to grow and develop during my tenure,” said Caleb Young. “This orchestra and our community have enriched my life in ways I can never repay.”

Next season is an exciting one for Young, who concurrently with Fort Wayne Philharmonic duties will expand his schedule into Europe working with of one of the leading conductors in the world, Jukka-Pekka Saraste. His time will also be spent developing a European conducting schedule and working with orchestras in the European Union. He also hopes to become an ambassador for American music and culture there. During the 2021-2022 Season, Young will remain a vital part of the Fort Wayne music scene while representing the community, region, and orchestra on an international level.
