During Beethoven’s time the performance of a string quartet in the home was all the rage. The young composer decided to scale the summit of compositional glory previously achieved by Haydn and Mozart with six of his own. His 4th String Quartet is an eccentric work, by turns moody, mocking, musing and manic. It’s all Beethoven and pure genius.

Beethoven — Duet for Clarinet and Bassoon
Beethoven — Quintet for Piano and Winds, Op. 16
Beethoven — String Quartet No. 4 in C minor Op 18
