Sales Associate - Full Time/Exempt

Position Summary: 

The Sales Associate will work to meet and exceed Philharmonic sales goals by providing direct, outside sales support to build and grow existing sales programs including group ticket sales, program book ad sales, and season ticket subscriptions. This role will also serve as vital member of marketing and community engagement team as it seeks to grow its reach within the Northeast Indiana community.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Book Ad Sales

  • Generate leads to sell new program book ads and renew existing advertisers  
  • Create contract and request payment for advertising agreements
  • Work with team to ensure ads are received by deadlines

Group Sales

  • Plan and implement group sales campaigns throughout the season
  • Work toward predetermined sales goals
  • Produce accurate and timely reports
  • Invoice and manage orders including special requests and deposit collection

Telemarketing and Subscription Campaign

  • Coordinate with an external telemarketing service and assist in the telemarketing campaign to meet the revenue goals
  • Generate leads and coordinate marketing materials in preparation for the telemarketing campaign
  • Participate in subscription calling campaigns as needed
  • Work with Box Office to assist with special customer service requests as they pertain to subscriptions or subscribers
  • Assist in the preparation of season launch including preparing season packages, pricing structures, seating maps and building reports for marketing use
  • Data research, reporting and analysis as requested
  • Recommend ticketing policies with the goal of maximizing customer satisfaction and income for the Philharmonic

Other Essential Functions

  • Serve as Patron Services representative at concerts on weekends and in evening hours
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Through duties listed above provide excellent internal and external customer service with the ongoing goal of building relationships with all those served by the Philharmonic

Reporting Relationships

  • Reports to Director of Marketing and Public Relations
  • Works closely with members of the Marketing, Development, and Education teams


Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 2-3 years experience in sales, customer service, or related field
  • Appreciation of music and performing arts
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Suite, and willingness to embrace and learn Tessitura CRM
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Team player



Base salary plus commission on sales. $35,000-$45,000 depending on sales performance. Benefits include health and dental insurance.
